How to put on a sling ?

To put on a scarf, take the fabric in both hands and place it over your head, with the middle of the fabric in front of your face. Bring the fabric down behind your back and hold it with one hand. Take the other end of the fabric and bring it back in front of you, then pull it over your head so that the two ends are joined at the back. Now hold the ends of the fabric and pull firmly. The scarf should be tight around your neck.

To hold your scarf in place, you can use a scarf ring or a scarf pin. To use a scarf ring, first thread the end of the scarf through the ring. Then place the ring on your head and adjust the position of the fabric to make it comfortable. To secure the scarf with a pin, first fold the fabric in half lengthwise. Then take the pin and insert it into both layers of fabric, close to the edge. Finally, attach the pin to the back of your neck.

If you want to remove your scarf, first loosen the fabric around your neck. Then gently pull the scarf over your head. Make sure the fabric doesn't catch on your hair or clothing. Finally, fold the scarf and put it away.

Wraps are considered to be a real ally for carrying your baby. However, certain precautions must be taken to guarantee a good safety for your baby, and therefore to avoid falls. There are different methods of carrying that you can realize, just by practicing with a doll, for example, the time to familiarize yourself with it. We will show you through several techniques how to put on a sling.

The realization of the cross wrap with the sling

This cross-wrap method is considered the most classical technique for the knotting of your sling, and it is ideal for newborns. To make it, you just have to place the middle of the scarf on your chest, leaving one side on each side of the back. Then cross the panels forming a large cross in the back, then bring down the wrap that has been placed on your chest, at the base of the belt. Next, place your baby squatting on the level of your chest, then slide his knees inside the pouch and wrap him with the wrap up to his ears, while keeping his buttocks in your hand. Now you need to adjust the wrap by pulling on each side, one after the other, and place them on your shoulders, then cross them over and under your baby's feet and tie an overhand knot behind your back.

Carrying your baby on your back with a sling

This technique is also a classic, and it is perfect if you want to have hands free when carrying your baby. However, it seems a bit complicated at first, but with practice you will get the hang of it, and it is best to have two people to do it. Start by placing your baby on your back, which should be flat, while lowering yourself forward, then pull the wrap up to your baby's ears. Pull each side over your shoulders and place the excess wrap under your baby's bottom and up to his knees. Then, slowly start to stand up and untwist your baby by twisting the panels and pulling them out and back under your arms and over your baby's legs. Then cross the panels under his buttocks and bring them back to the front, passing again under his legs. To finish, you must pull the two panels one last time and tie them.

The sling in the cradle position and on the hips

There are other methods of carrying, such as the cradle position or the hip position.

The position of the cradle

This technique is perfect for all babies, whatever their age. To be able to wear your sling in the cradle position, just follow these steps:

  • Fold the sling lengthwise;
  • Put one of the panels on the chosen shoulder;
  • Create a pocket by tying a tight knot, after joining the two sides in the back;
  • Make sure your baby is well settled in the pouch you have created;
  • Finally, tighten your scarf by turning the fabric over your shoulder.

The position on the hips

This carrying technique is only for babies who are able to support their heads on their own (from about 4 months of age), and is very recommended when your baby starts to gain weight, as it allows you to relieve your back. To carry your baby in this position, you must put your wrap on one of your shoulders. You will have one side at the front and one at the back. Then cross the two panels on the opposite hip, making the panel on the back pass over the panel on the chest. Finally, tie a double overhand knot behind the hip after joining the panels around the waist. Now all you have to do is place your baby in the crossed bands, and check that the legs are around the waist in the frog position.

That's it! Now you know carrying techniques using a slingAll you have to do is practice and choose the one that suits you and your baby.
