Much to his surprise, Daddy Yankee has not only agreed to become executive producer of Neon, but has also agreed to make a few appearances in the series' first season. The series follows Santi, an up-and-coming reggaeton star, and his friends Ness, his manager, and Felix, his artistic director, as they move from Ft. Myers, Florida, to the music hustle and bustle of Miami.
To realize their dreams of stardom, they'll need luck and the help of influential people in the music industry, like Mia. But where exactly was Neon filmed on Netflix?
Where was Neon filmed on Netflix?
Neon was filmed in Florida and Puerto Rico, mainly in Miami. According to available information, the first season of the series was filmed from February to April 2023.
Miami, also known as the "Magic City", is one of Neon's main filming locations. In addition to its imposing skyscrapers, the production team also exploited other facilities and features of the city.
If you look closely at the series' exterior shots, you'll probably be able to spot several local landmarks and attractions in the background, such as the Freedom Tower, Brickell Avenue, Port Miami, Royal Caribbean International headquarters, the Arsht Center, and many more.
As for the indoor sequences, some were shot in actual establishments, while others were filmed on sets in film studios in and around Miami, notably M3 Studios.
Part of the production of this reggaeton comedy series also took place in Puerto Rico. The cast and Netflix production team set up camp on the Caribbean island to shoot the first episode of the series.
